Discover the Best Beaches in Mallorca 2024

best beaches in Mallorca

Mallorca, the crown jewel of the Balearic Islands, has some of the most breathtaking beaches in the Mediterranean. It’s truly one of my favorite places to vacation. It’s the perfect place if you’re looking for a European beach getaway. It’s also a great destination to add to your trip if you are traveling around Spain or visiting Barcelona. In this post we’ll review some of the best beaches in Mallorca.

best beaches in Mallorca

There are over 200 beaches in Mallorca and it’s hard to pick just a handful since they are all beautiful. There are beaches for everyone depending on what you’re looking for. If you’re looking for something different, there are also numerous nude beaches scattered across Mallorca. Before traveling to Mallorca, I did my own research on where to find the best beaches in Mallorca. My research always led me to the southeastern part of the island, renowned for having some of the best beaches.

best beach in Mallorca Cala Gran

Cala Gran Beach, Mallorca

I love Cala Gran! I almost don’t want to give away this gem but it deserves to be on this list. Turquoise waters and dramatic cliffs surround Cala Gran, a gorgeous cove beach. Nestled on the southeastern coast of Mallorca, Cala Gran is one of those beaches that take your breath away.

Cala Gran is small but it’s a great beach if you’re looking for a peaceful and relaxing day on the beach. Keep in mind that this beach may get crowded, depending on the time of day you visit. We visited Cala Gran towards the end of the day (around 4pm) and it was honestly a perfect time to visit. My sister and I had taken a day trip to Valdemossa earlier that day and we were looking to unwind on a quiet beach. Cala Gran was exactly what we were looking for.

Cala Ferrera Beach, Mallorca

Adjacent to Cala Gran, Cala Ferrera presents a more intimate and secluded ambiance. Tucked away in a charming cove, Cala Ferrera is also a great choice for those looking for a serene escape.

The surrounding cliffs of Cala Ferrera provide a sense of seclusion, creating a perfect spot if you’re looking for a relaxing beach day. Like many beaches in Mallorca, Cala Ferrera is on the smaller side but it’s a beautiful beach worth visiting on your trip to Mallorca.

Colonia de Sant Jordi Beaches, Mallorca – Platja de es Port, Platja d’es Dolc

Moving southwest to the charming town of Colonia de Sant Jordi, here you will find a handful of beaches such as Platja de es Port and Platja d’es Dolc. Colonia de Sant Jordi is celebrated for its untouched beauty and unspoiled coastline.

Platja d’es Port Beach

Platja de es Port, with its fine white sand and shallow turquoise waters, is an ideal family-friendly beach. My family and I love still water, which is one of the reasons why we love Mallorca so much. While es Port beach is located on a port, the water here is very clean and still. There is also a boardwalk, surrounded by shops and restaurants. Es Port is a beautiful beach, making it one of the best beaches in Mallorca.

Platja d’es Dolc Beach

A short walk from Platja de es Port leads to Platja d’es Dolc, another great beach known for its pristine waters. Platja d’es Dolc, also known as Es Dolc, is a sandy beach with shallow, still water. Es Dolc’s tucked-away location makes it a great option for those seeking a relaxing day at the beach.

What I also liked about Es Dolc is that there is a small beach bar directly on the beach. It offers a variety of refreshing drinks, making it a great choice on a hot summer day.

If you’re visiting Mallorca, make sure you leave time to visit the southern part of the island for the best beaches. Cala Gran, Cala Ferrera, and Colonia de Sant Jordi (Platja de es Port, Platja d’es Dolc) are my top picks for the best beaches in Mallorca.
